SAN ANTONIO – The New Mexico State men's golf wrapped up play at the Lone Star Invitational on Briggs Ranch Golf Course on Tuesday. After three rounds of action the Aggies shot a 290-291-296—877 (+13) to finish in fifth place out of 15. This is the best finish for NM State away from NMSU Golf Course this season.
A pair of Aggie golfers finished in the top-10, led by
Isaac Merry who tied for sixth after firing a 71-71-72—214 (-2).
Ryo Harada followed close behind with a 74-71-70—215 (-1) to tie for eighth. Harada led NM State with 10 birdies for the tournament and Merry added the sole eagle for the squad.
Tadhg Campbell finished in a tie for 43
rd with scores of 73-74-78—225 (+9).
Tristin Goodwin shot an 11-over, 227, to tie for 51
st and
Michael McGilton rounded out the Aggie lineup with a 13-over, 229, which put the golfer in a tie for 54
th.
At tournament's end No. 11 Oklahoma took home first place with a team score of 849 (-15), followed by Arkansas State in second at 866 (E) and UTEP took third with 871 (+5). The Aggies finished eight strokes ahead of in-state rival New Mexico who took ninth at 885 (+21).
Next up for New Mexico State men's golf is the Aggie Invitational, April 7-8, at the Traditions Golf Course in Bryan, Texas.
