Jemerrio Jones and
Zach Lofton of the New Mexico State men's basketball team were name to the United States Basketball Writers Association All-District Team for district VIII Tuesday afternoon.

The announcement comes shortly after the Western Athletic Conference released its all-conference honors for the 2017-18 season where Jones was named player of the year and to the all-defensive team while Lofton was named to the All-WAC First-Team and WAC All-Newcomer Team.

This is the first time in program history that the Aggies have had two players earn all-district honors in the same year. The last Aggie to earn all-district honors was Pascal Siakam during the 2015-16 season.

Jones is coming off a stellar senior season where he's averaging a double-double with 10.9 points and 12.7 rebounds per game on top of his team-high 100 assists. The 6-5 forward also notched 20-plus rebounds in four different games this season – including three-straight. His three-straight 20-rebound games was the first in NCAA history this century and is the first person do it in Aggie history. The Memphis, Tenn., product also hauled in 18 double-doubles this season as well as a triple-double.

Through games on March 5, Jones is ranked in the top-10 in five different categories. His 380 rebounds this season is good for third-most in the country while his 12.7 rebounding average is second-best in the nation. The senior's 18 double-doubles is tied for ninth in while his triple-double on the year is tied for third in the nation. Lastly, Jones is ranked 10th in the NCAA with 3.67 offensive boards per game.

Lofton, the team's leading scorer with 19.3 points per game, has been a driving force for the Aggie offense this season. The St. Paul, Minn., native recorded 20-plus points in a game 13 different times – including a pair of 30-point games. Lofton has reached double-figures in scoring in all but four games this season.

The dynamic scoring guard picked up his first-career double-double at Seattle U, scoring 26 points while pulling down a career-high 12 rebounds. Three games later in the regular-season finale, Lofton tallied 17 points and 10 rebounds for NM State's 25th win of the season.

Jones, Lofton and the Aggies are set to head out to the WAC Tournament where they are the tournament's top seed and is slated to face the No. 8-seed Chicago State at 7 p.m. (MT) on Thursday, March 8, at Orleans Arena on ESPN3.
