PHOENIX, Ariz. – The New Mexico State women's golf completed day two of the three-day Western Athletic Conference tournament. After firing a 288 (+4), the Aggie now have a 578 (+10) team score and have moved into second place with one round left in the conference tournament.
Play on day two was led by 2017 WAC Golfer of the Year
Pun Chanachai who shot a 69 (-2) for a two-day total of 141 (-1) and the Aggie sits in second place on the individual leaderboard. Chanachai was followed by senior
Kennedie Montoya who fired a 72 (+1) and sits in fourth with a score of 143 (+1). The two golfers also lead the team with five birdies apiece.
Maria Prado also sits in the top-10, tied for eighth, with scores of 73-73-146 (+4).
Dominique Galloway is tied for 15
th after firing a 74-74—148 (+6) and
Tiegan Taylor rounds out the squad in a tie for 25
th at 78-75—153 (+11). Prado leads the tournament field with 28 holes for par, while Chanachai and Galloway are tied for second with 27, at a tough Legacy Golf Resort.
Heading into the final round of play at the WAC Championship, Seattle U sits three strokes ahead of NM State in first place at 575 (+7). Grand Canyon follows two strokes behind the Aggies in third with a team total of 580 (+12).
