DENVER – The Western Athletic Conference announced its women's golf All-WAC honors on Friday afternoon, following a vote of the conference's eight head coaches. Following a standout sophomore season, NM State golfer
Pun Chanachai earned her second straight WAC Player of the Year honor and two Aggies were named to All-WAC teams as well.
Chanachai earned honors after leading the WAC in stroke average at 72.68. In 11 events played, the sophomore posted six top-5 finishes, including three individual championships. The Bangkok, Thailand native's low round of 63 at the Col. Wollenberg's Ram Classic set a new WAC record for low round and 14 of her 31 rounds were at or below par.
Dominique Galloway joined Chanachai on the All-WAC First-Team following a strong sophomore campaign that saw the golfer post a 73.94 stroke average after 31 rounds of competition. The Rio Rancho, N.M. native finished the year with five top-10 and seven top-25 finishes after 11 events.
The final Aggie to be named to the All-WAC team was
Kennedie Montoya who was named to the second-team. Montoya's best finish of the year came in a tie for third at the WAC Championship where the senior posted her best 54-hole score of the year at 215.
New Mexico State wrapped up its season with a second-place finish in the conference tournament. This year saw the team post seven top-10 finishes with two first-place trophies after 11 events.
