HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The New Mexico State men's golf team wrapped up the first round of action at the Western Athletic Conference Championship. The Aggies recorded a pair of eagles on day one, the only two of the tournament, and finished with a team score of 291 (+11) to sit in fifth place.
Isaac Merry contributed one of the eagles and fired an even-par, 70, to sit in a tie for third on the individual leaderboard.
Tristin Goodwin followed behind with a round one score of 73 (+3) and is tied for 16
th.
Tadhg Campbell,
Ryo Harada and
Michael McGilton are all tied for 20
th at 74 (+4). Campbell also added an eagle of his own on the 13
th hole. McGilton, Harada and Goodwin are all tied for the team lead with three birdies at the end of day one.
Heading into the second round, Utah Valley sits atop the leaderboard with a team score of 283 (+3), followed by UT Rio Grande Valley and UMKC who are tied for second at 284 (+4), while Grand Canyon sits five stroke ahead of the Aggies in fourth at 286 (+6).
