MARICOPA, Ariz. – The New Mexico State women's golf team wrapped up the 2017-18 regular season at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on Tuesday. At the end of the two-day, three round tournament the Aggies shot a 295-285-296—876 (+12) and finished in second place out of 20 teams at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
Three NM State golfers finished in the top-25 and two of them placed in the top-5.
Dominique Galloway led the way for the Aggies firing a 73-70-71—214 (-2) to tie for second.
Pun Chanachai followed with scores of 75-65-75—215 (-1) and finished in a tie for fifth. This marks the fifth top-10 finish for each golfer this season.
Kennedie Montoya recorded her fifth top-25 finish on the year with scores of 74-74-73—221 (+5) to tie for 25
th.
Maria Prado tied for 73
rd after firing a 73-80-78—231 (+15) and
Tiegan Taylor rounded out the starters in a tie for 87
th at 82-76-77—235 (+19).
Kehler Koss, competing as an individual, shot a 77-77-80—234 (+18) to tie for 80
th.
At tournament's end, Sacramento State took first place with a team score of 854 (-10). San Francisco finished just behind NM State in third place with a total of 877 (+13). Santa Clara took fourth at 882 (+18) and UTEP completed the top-five with a score of 886 (+22).
New Mexico State now moves onto the postseason competing in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament, April 16-18, at Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix, Ariz. The Aggies have won the last four conference championships.
