@NMStateSwimDive Strengthens Team with Additional Signee

The New Mexico State women’s swimming and diving added to its 2018-19 roster with an additional signee.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State women's swimming and diving head coach Rick Pratt announced the addition of a new signee for the 2018-19 season. Moana Houde-Camirand signed her National Letter of Intent to swim for the Aggies and will join Mackenzie Baird, Anabel Ivanov, Mikaela Miele, Natalia Villa, Ashley Wingrove, Lauren Hemburrow, Neza Kocijan and Airam Oliva-Aun who all signed during the 2017-18 season.

Houde-Camirand, who hails from Gatineau, Quebec, Canada, comes to NM State after swimming for the Greater Ottawa Kingfish Swim Team under Head Coach Jason Allen. She specializes in long course meter distance freestyles and butterfly events, with her personal bests coming in the 100 free (59.13 LCM), 200 free (2:06.90 LCM) and 100 butterfly (1:04.53 LCM).

"We found out about Moana very late in the process, but I am very happy we did," said Pratt. "Moana is the whole package in terms of her athletic and academic abilities, and leadership qualities. She is going to help us a lot in and out of the pool. Swimming wise, she has a great kick and feel for the water. She had a strong year, but has a lot of potential to continue improving. Academically, she has ambitions of being a physicist and is a very strong student. I'm excited to have her on our team."
