MADISON, Wisc. – The first round of regional play for the 2018 Division I Women's Golf Championship on University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wisc. wrapped up on Monday. NM State's
Pun Chanachai, competing as an individual, fired a 77 (+5) and sits in a tie for 66
th through 18 holes.
Day one saw Chanachai paired up with Connie Jaffrey of Kansas State and Pinyada Kuvanun of Toledo. The pairing opened on a tough front-nine that featured the NM State sophomore closing with a birdie before the turn.
The Aggie golfer played shot for par on seven of the final nine holes, but struggled on the 17
th before closing with a five-over, 77. Chanachai currently sits in fifth among the individuals at the Madison regional with two days remaining.
Virginia sits atop the team leaderboard at the end of the first round with a team score of 279 (-9), followed by No. 4 Duke at 283 (-5) and No. 6 USC sits in third with a team total of 285 (-3).
Day two of competition for Chanachai tees off Tuesday, May 8, at 7:45 a.m. MT from the 10
