Bradish and Groff Nab Postseason Honors

NM State baseball’s Kyle Bradish and Jonathan Groff added multiple postseason honors to their collection on Wednesday.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – After a historic season for NM State baseball, the postseason awards continue to roll in for the team and players. Starting pitcher Kyle Bradish was named a Perfect Game/Rawlings Third-Team All-American on Wednesday. Bradish and fellow pitcher Jonathan Groff also earned the nod for the Midwest ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Team.

In his final season with NM State, Bradish was also named to the All-Western Athletic Conference First-Team, as well as the All-imageWAC Tournament Team and NCAA Lubbock All-Regional Team. Along with the awards, the pitcher also set a new single-season record for strikeouts at NM State with 140 which shattered the previous record of 107 set by Albert Montoya in 1991.

At season's end, the three-year Aggie ace continued to make history for the Crimson & White when he was selected in the fourth round, pick 121 by the Los Angeles Angels in the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft. The early selection marks the highest drafted Aggie in NM State baseball's history.

During his senior campaign, Groff posted an 11-3 record with a 2.83 ERA over 101.2 innings of work. The lefty tossed two of the Aggies three complete games during the 2018 season and compiled 89 punch-outs while holding opposing batters to a .261 average.

The southpaw earned WAC Pitcher of the Year honors and was also just named a Collegiate Baseball Second-Team All-American.

Each hurler helped lead New Mexico State to its first ever Western Athletic Conference title and first trip to the NCAA Regionals since 2012.
