Rob Baarts announced the addition of
Emma Smith for the upcoming 2018 campaign.

NM State's total of signees are now at an even dozen with the addition of Smith. The Aggie women's soccer program is also commemorating its 10th season as a varsity program this year.

"Emma brings athleticism and a soccer background that is already familiar with our coaching staffs' playing philosophy, having played for Miguel at FC Portland," Baarts said. "She has a strong engine with an excellent soccer mind. She is a very coachable and versatile player that can play in several positions on the field. Emma is a fantastic addition to our Aggie soccer family."

Prior to NM State: Played her freshman campaign at Linfield College where she started in 19-of-20 matches...her five goals tied her for the team-lead while her 10 points were also tied for the most on the team last year…two of her five goals were game-winning goals, which was third-most in the Northwest Conference…was a perfect 2-for-2 in penalty kicks for the Wildcats…logged 1,372 minutes of action on the pitch, which was fifth-highest on the squad…scored her first collegiate goal in just the second game of her career against Evergreen (8/23).

High School: A three-year letter winner at Sherwood High School…guided the Bowmen to the 2016 6A State Championship her senior year in addition to a perfect 8-0 mark in league play and a 16-2-1 overall record as a senior…earned back-to-back Oregon State Athletic Association All-State honors…was the No. 1-ranked player out of Oregon according to MaxPreps.com as a senior and 20th nationally…led SHS to the semifinals of the state championship as a junior with a 13-3-4 overall mark and second-place finish in league action (6-1-1)…also finished second in conference play her sophomore year (6-1) with an overall mark of 10-3-3 and appearance in the state championship tournament.

Personal: Daughter of Doug and Lynne Smith…has a younger sister, Lucy…majoring in nursing…was a member of the U.S. Olympic Development Program from 2013-16…played under assistant coach
