Biography

2014-15 (JUNIOR):  Lennert had a historical season for the Aggies and became the fastest flyer in school history in both the 100 and 200 Fly events. In the Aggies mid-season invite at UNLV, Lennert smashed both records with times of 53.96 in the 100 fly and 2:00.34 in the 200 fly. She also dominated the fly and IM events during dual meet action, and the team also relied on her greatly as a key leg of all of their freestyle relays.

At the WAC Championship meet she became one of the team’s top scorers finishing 6th in the 200IM with a lifetime best of 2:04.27. She also finished 2nd in both the 100 and 200 fly events. Lennert helped the Aggies on several relays; with a second place finish in the 200 Med. Relay with a 50 fly split of 24.50, a historical record setting 400 Medley Relay (3:41.03) where Lennert split the fast ever fly leg by an Aggie with a time of 52.99 on the fly leg. She also helped the Aggies finish 4th in the 400 Free Relay with a split of 50.77.

For her competitive efforts Dorottya Lennert was named the team Athlete of the Year at the annual awards banquet.

2013-14 (SOPHOMORE): Lennert had a breakout year and solidified herself as one of NM State’s top swimmers during her sophomore campaign.  After two wins in her freshman year, Lennert had a team-leading seven wins during her second season as an Aggie, five of which came in the butterfly events.  She had four wins in the 100 fly and one win, two second-place finishes and three third-place finishes in the 200 fly.  Lennert also competed in the 100 breast, 100 free and 200 Individual Medley (IM), picking up wins in the 100 free and 200 IM, while also participating in the 200-free, 200-medley, 400-free, 400-medley and 800-free relay teams.

Lennert had her best meet of the season, and perhaps the best meet for any Aggie all year, against Northern Colorado (Nov. 2) as she won every event she took part in.  Individually, she won the 100 fly (57.32), 200 fly (2:06.83) and the 200 IM (2:10.75) while also helping the 400-medley relay team to a first-place finish.  She almost repeated the feat versus Northern Arizona (Dec. 7) a month later after winning the 100 fly (57.37), the 100 free (54.10) and helping the 200-medley relay team to victory.  Lennert finished the 200 fly in second place, 3/10 of a second behind the winner, robbing her of consecutive four-win dual meets.  Although she won the 100 free, her best time in the event came at the Phil Hansel Invitational in Houston (Nov. 21-23) where she swam a lifetime-best time of 53.32.  She also swam the 100 breast for the only time all season in Houston where she finished with a season-best time of 1:08.46.

Lennert would go on to win the 100 fly two more times in the spring season, first versus Idaho (Jan. 18) and then a week later against Grand Canyon (Jan. 25).  She would conclude her season at the WAC Championships (Feb. 26-Mar. 1) where she would finish in fourth place in the 100 fly with a time of 54.93.  Her preliminary round time of 54.69 would be her fastest of her career.  Lennert would also finish sixth in the 200 fly with a time of 2:04.69 and in 18th place in the 200 IM with a lifetime-best time of 2:05.98, marking the second-straight year she would finish in the top 20 in three events at the conference championships.  She wasn’t done, however, as she would also help the 200 and 400-medley relay teams to third-place finishes, the 400-free relay team to a fourth-place finish and the 200-free relay team to a fifth-place finish.  To punctuate her sophomore campaign, Lennert was honored as an Academic All-WAC member for the second-consecutive season.

2012-13 (FRESHMAN): In her first season with the Aggies, Lennert made an immediate impact. She scored in three events at the 2013 WAC Championships after three top 16 finishes. Lennert finished in 10th place in the 100 fly (55.57), ninth in 200 fly (2:02.10) and 16th in 200 IM (2:06.02). She won two individual events in her first year. Lennert won the 100 fly at Idaho (Jan. 18) and 200 fly against New Mexico (Feb. 2). She was a member of many Aggie relay teams including the 200-free, 400-free, 200-medley and 400-medley teams. She earned Academic All-WAC Freshman/Transfer team honors.

HIGH SCHOOL: Lennert arrived in Las Cruces after graduating from CSIK Ferenc High School in Budapest, Hungary. In the high school Olympic Games, she won the 100-meter butterfly in 2011. Lennert was a three-time 4x50-meter medley relay winner from 2008-11. She was a Junior Hungarian Champion in the 100 fly and competed at the Junior European Championships in 2009. Lennert finished in second and third place at the international swim meet in Berlin in 2010.

PERSONAL: Lennert was born in Budapest, Hungary, and is the daughter of Zsolt Lennert and Nagy Katalin Julianna. She is majoring in psychology.
