Biography
2014-15 (JUNIOR): Reber has developed into a sprinter the team relies on heavily during relays and individual sprinting events. She had another successful season for the Aggies and competed during every dual meet during the sprint, free, and backstroke events along with being the key anchor on many relays.
During the UNLV Invite Reber had many successful swims. Chelsey finished 14th in the 50 free and helped the Aggies on the 200 and 400 free relays, along with both medley relays.
At the WAC Championship meet, Reber helped the Aggies to a 2nd place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with a Freestyle split of a 22.98. She also finshed 12th in the 100 back and anchored a 4th place 400 freestyle relay with a split of 52.20.
2013-14 (SOPHOMORE): Reber continued to be a sprint freestyle specialist for NM State during her sophomore campaign. She swam the 50 free during all nine meets in the season and swam the 100 free in seven meets. She also swam the 100 back and took part in the 200-free, 200-medley, 400-free and 400-medley relay teams.
Reber broke her lifetime-best time in the 100 free at the WAC Championships (Feb. 26-Mar. 1) after swimming a finals’ time of 52.16. She was the top Aggie finisher at the conference meet in both the 50 and 100 free events, finishing in 11th place during each event. She also helped the NM State 400-free relay team to a fourth-place finish and the 200-free relay team to a fifth-place finish. Reber’s best time of the season in the 50 free was during the preliminary round at the WAC Championships (23.86) while her best time of the season in the 100 back (58.84) was during the preliminary round at the Phil Hansel Invitational (Nov. 21-23). Reber earned Academic All-WAC honors for the second-consecutive year.
2012-13 (FRESHMAN): As a freshman, Reber improved her personal-best times in all three individual events. She set lifetime-best marks at the 2013 WAC Championships in the 50 free (23.71), 100 free (52.60) and 100 back (57.22). Her performance in the 50 free was also a program-best time in the 2012-13 season. Reber recorded three top 25 finishes at the WAC meet. She was 15th in the 50 free, 24th in the 100 free and 21st in the 100 back. Reber earned Academic All-WAC Freshman/Transfer team honors.
HIGH SCHOOL: Reber arrived in Las Cruces from Ft. Wayne, Ind., and she swam for coach Chad Englehart with SWAC. She was a three-time All-American in the 200-free relay in 2010-12 and two-time All-American in the 200-medley relay in 2010 and 2012. As a senior, Reber was a first team Northeast Hoosier Conference honoree after winning the 50 free and earning runner-up honors in the 100 free. She was a second team NHC selection in 2009 and 2010. She was a four-time conference, sectional and state team member. Reber’s best times were 24.2 in the 50 free, 53.2 in the 100 free and 58.3 in the 100 back.
PERSONAL: Reber is the daughter of Dale and Kim Reber, and she was born in Fort Wayne, Ind. She is majoring in biology.
