Junior (2011): During
his first year at NM State, Lyon played in a total of 40 games. He started 22 games for the Aggies, half of
which were at first base. Lyon finished
the season with a .309 batting average and 10 RBIs. He scored a total of 25 runs and also had 25
hits on the season including six doubles and one triple. On the defensive side, Lyon finished the
season with 109 putouts, eight assists and a .959 fielding percentage.
Lyon had two hits in three at-bats against Houston Baptist
(Feb. 20), including a triple, and scored three runs. He had three hits, including two doubles, and
three RBIs against Buffalo (Feb. 26), both season highs. He also scored four times during the
game. During the season Lyon also came
off the bench twice to hit a pinch-hit double and score a run, once against San
Jose State (Apr. 17) and then again against Sacramento State (May 8).
Junior College: Lyon played outfield at Edmonds
Community College in Edmonds, Wash. His team finished second in its region in
2009. He posted a .370 batting average, with 22 runs, 47 hits and 39 RBI. Lyon
was named to the First Team North Division NWAACC, the First Team All-NWAACC
and the NWAACC All-Tournament Team.
High School: Lyon went to Meadowdale High School in
Lynnwood,Wash. He finished his high school career with 23 stole bases and a
.458 batting average. Lyon was named the most inspirational player on his team
in 2007. In 2008 he received his third letter for baseball as well as he helped
lead the team to the WESCO South League championships for the second year in a
row where they placed fourth in state. His leadership skills earned him a WESCO
honorable mention in 2008.
Personal: Lyon is the son of Al Lyon and Susan
Blalock and was born in Seattle, Wash. He is a communications major.
