Biography

Junior: Wesley Starkes played in 57 games and started in 54 in centerfield.  He finished the season No. 5 on the team in batting average, hitting .364 on the year with 67 hits and 39 RBI.  Starkes had 21 multiple-hit games including five games with three hits, while he also had 10 multiple-RBI games.  He tallied a season-high five RBI against Wofford College (3/26) as the Aggies defeated the Terriers 20-7.  Starkes led the team in stolen bases picking up nine on nine attempts.  One of his stolen bases came against San Jose State (4/16) when NM State defeated the Spartans 9-4.  That day Starkes went 3-for-3 at the plate, tallying three RBI and crossing the plate twice.  He finished the year with 46 runs scored and 27 walks helping the Aggies to be the No. 1 team in the nation in runs scored and the No. 2 team nationally in walks.

Junior College: Starkes played shortstop for Northern Oklahoma A&M during the 2009 season under coach Roger Ward. He helped the team to a Bi-State region championship that season.

High School: While at Athens High School, Starkes led the team to a 20-10 record and the third round of the state playoffs. During his senior season, Starkes received all-state shortstop honors.

Personal:  Starkes is the son of Daryl and Christy Starkes and was born in Athens, Texas.  He is majoring in Business.
