HOUSTON – The New Mexico State swimming and diving team opened the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Wednesday at the CRWC Natatorium.

Through three events, the Aggies currently sit in third with 83 points on the women's side and trails three-time defending champion Northern Arizona (120) and Idaho (100).
"In Today's session we had some great energy, but also some nervous swims during the relays," head swimming and diving coach
Rick Pratt said. "Our young group performed well during the 200 medley relay with Makena having the fastest fly split in program history. Our divers really had a strong day with two in finals. There is a lot of swimming moving into tomorrow and we've only scratched the surface. The energy and attitude of our team is infectious and I'm excited to see us continue."
