LAS CRUCES, N.M.– Two divers prepare to represent New Mexico State at the NCAA Diving Zone Championships in Flagstaff, Ariz. Raina Brommer and MacKinna Hauff compete in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform events at the NCAA qualifiers starting on Monday, March 6, and ending Wednesday, March 8.
"This is going to be a tough meet as the girls will be competing against about 60 others," diving coach Miranda King said. "Kassidy Cook, a 2016 Olympian, will be there as well as girls who have qualified for NCAA Championships the past several years. The reigning national champions on each event are in Zone E and will be competing as well as three of the top eight in each event in the NCAA."
This is Brommer's first year qualifying for the events. Hauff competed in platform as well as both springboard events in 2016.
"Raina and MacKinna have worked hard all season and I am excited to see how they are able to handle this high profile meet with the possibility of qualifying for NCAA on the line," King said. "At Zones, the top 11 spots on 1-meter and platform, and the top nine spots on 3-meter qualify for NCAA Championships."
The NCAA Zone E Diving Championships begin on Monday with the women's 3-meter preliminaries at 11 a.m.
