INDIANAPOLIS – Six athletic teams from the New Mexico State Athletic Department scored a perfect 1,000 for its single-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) according to the NCAA for the 2016-17 academic year.
Those six teams for NM State include women's tennis, women's golf, women's cross country, women's volleyball, men's tennis and men's golf. This is the seventh-time both women's golf and women's tennis have tallied a perfect 1,000 single-year APR. Women's cross country has now earned a 1,000 six times since the program started while volleyball has reached the mark five times. Men's golf and men's tennis have reached the 1,000 mark four times apiece.
It is the seventh-straight year the women's tennis team has earned a perfect single-year APR score while it was the fourth-straight year for women's golf. In addition to its streak, both women's tennis and women's golf teams were recently honored with the
NCAA Public Recognition Award – which is given to programs by the NCAA for a perfect multi-year APR score.
