Las Cruces, NM – The New Mexico State swimming and diving teams are split for the last meets of the regular season. Diving travels to Air Force for a two-day meet starting on Friday (Jan.27)  in Colorado Springs, Colo. Swimming celebrates its seniors as they host New Mexico on Saturday (Jan. 28) at Noon.
"Over the past few weeks of winter training, our girls all worked extremely hard," diving coach
Miranda King said. "We are now in the peak of the season and this invitational is an excellent way to see other divers in our zone as well as having a high profile meet leading into WAC Championships in February."
In their last meet, divers
MacKinna Hauff and
Abigail Watson qualified for event finals. Hauff scored 255.00 to place ninth and Watson placed 10th with a score of 248.35.
Sophomore swimmer
Lauren Wood nabbed second place with a time of 2:21.05 in the 200-yard breast stroke and third place in the 200-yard individual medley (2:12.07) in her last meet.
Picabo Bender placed third in the 500-yard freestyle as she clocked in at 5:09.31 in the event. She also took fourth in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:42.84.
"I am very confident the girls will do well this weekend and I am excited for the next month leading up to WAC Championships," King said.

NM State diving is competing in the 1-meter spring board and platform on Friday and the 3-meter springboard and platform on Saturday. Swimming faces off with New Mexico on Saturday at Noon at the NM State Swimming and Diving Complex.
