@NMStateSwimDive to Host Northern Colorado in Season-Opening Meet

The New Mexico State swimming and diving team opens the 2017-18 season, hosting Northern Colorado.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's swimming and diving team will host Northern Colorado in its season-opening meet on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the NM State Swimming and Diving Complex. The first event is set to take place at 11:30 a.m. (MT) and admission is free.

"UNC is a much improved and well-coached team for us to start the season," head coach Rick Pratt said. "They have several freshmen and transfers who are going to give us some challenges and for us to win, we're going to have to win some close races. Our team is a lot more experienced this season and that should help us manage things better. Our expectations are high and we've been working very hard. We're going to have to be mentally tough and stay focused on our skills such as our underwaters, turns and break-outs. It should be a beautiful day for a swim meet and we're anxious to officially start things off."

The meet will feature 16 events, which include the 200 medley relay, 400 free relay, 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 500 free, 1000 free, 100 fly, 200 fly, 100 back, 200 back, 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM. Additionally, the meet will feature two diving events, which include 1 meter diving and 3 meter diving.
