Rodolph Assembles Impressive @NMStateSoftball Signing Class.

Head coach Kathy Rodolph inked eight for the 2019-2020 season..

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State softball head coach Kathy Rodolph constructed another spectacular signing class for the 2019-20 season. This year's class includes athletes from Arizona, California and New Mexico.

Hope Banales

Outfielder

Oro Valley, Ariz. | Canyon del Oro HS

High School: Received first team all-region honors in 2017… Won the 2017 State Championship with Canyon del Oro in 2017… Named to the first team all-region in 2018… In 64 games played, battered .452 with a .471 on-base percentage and a .687 slugging percentage… Amassed 104 hits, 53 RBI and 74 runs…

Quotable: "Hope brings speed and grit to a very powerful lineup. We expect her to come and compete for a spot in the outfield while adding balance to our offense. She is a great student and her work ethic will fit right into our Aggie family."

Riley Carley

Tucson, Ariz. | Sabino HS

High School: In 2017, hit .539 with 48 hits and 37 RBI's… Named to the 2017 First Team All-Southern Arizona… For 2018, hit .345 with 10 hits and 11 RBI's in 12 games… Named to the third team All-Southern Arizona for her junior season…

Quotable: "Riley has a big power stroke and has an imposing presence in the box. She is a great teammate and I look forward to seeing what Riley will accomplish in Crimson and White."

Felicia De La Torre

Pitcher

West Covina, Calif. | South Hills HS

High School: Named to the first team all-conference and the league's co-defensive player of the year in 2018… Received the South Hills Athlete of the Week award in April 2018… Two-time Semper Fidelis Player of the Game during the 2016 and 2017 seasons… Compiled a 2.7 ERA with 123 strikeouts so far…

Quotable: "Felicia is a pitcher only. Her heavy spin makes contact difficult which will be a great compliment to our strong pitching staff. She has worked tirelessly to grow her skill set over the past few years and I expect that she will surprise some folks as she continues to get stronger in each outing I see."

Matalasi Faapito

High School: Earned First Team All-Southwestern League honors for the 2016 and 2017 seasons… Received First Team All-Inland Empire honors and was named to the CIF first team… Named the league MVP during her junior season… Received second team all-nation honors, earning her All-American status… Batted .441 with 12 homers and 41 RBI… Won two national titles with her travel ball team…

Ramsay Lopez

Albuquerque N.M. | Eldorado HS

High School: Played three years of softball at Eldorado High School …Hit .397 with 6 home runs and 30 RBI in 2016, earning second team all-district and second team all-metro honors…In 2017, hit .623 with 12 home runs and 46 RBI, receiving  first team all-district, first team all-metro and second team all-state accolades… Hit .557 with 11 home runs and 46 RBI,... Received first team all-district and first team all-metro honors in 2018…

Quotable: "Ramsay is an explosive right-handed hitter from New Mexico. Anytime we can sign in-state student athletes with this kind of potential, we are thrilled. I expect Ramsay to make an impact on the Aggie offense immediately and she has the potential to have a very special career with New Mexico State."

Maya Martinez

La Mirada, Calif. | La Mirada HS

High School: Played three seasons at La Mirada HS, where she played primarily SS and 2B… Led team to first place finish during sophomore and junior seasons… Named ABC Channel 7 Player of the Week in 2017… Received second team All-Suburban League honors in 2017… Named to the first team All-Suburban League in 2018… Played in the San Gabriel Valley All-Star Game in 2018… Hit .437 with 8 home runs and 35 RBI during the 2018 softball season…

Quotable: "Maya is a smooth middle infielder who packs some punch as a right-handed hitter. I've watched her grow into a great competitor and I look forward to seeing her in Crimson and White."

Hailey Tanori

Infielder

Green Valley, Ariz. | Sahuarita HS

High School: Named to the first team all-region and second team All-Southern Arizona in 2016… Received first team all-region and first team all-3A honors in 2017… Led her team to a first place finish for the 3A South Region of Arizona in 2018… Was named to the Max Preps' National Junior All-American Team in 2018… Garnered first team All-Southern Arizona honors during her junior campaign… Named the I-3A Southern Arizona Player of the Year and the 3A Offensive Player of the Year as a junior…

Quotable: "Hailey is a triple threat on the left side of the plate. She plays the game hard and I love her competitive spirit. Her grit and hustle make her tough at the plate and in the outfield. I look forward to seeing Hailey compete for our team."

Asa Vigil

Infielder

Whittier, Calif. | La Serna HS

High School: As an infielder, led her team to a second place finish in the Del Rio League… As a track star, placed third in the league for the 400m in 2017 and 2018….

Quotable: "Asa is a tough competitor with high character and a powerful swing. Asa continues to show she can be clutch and consistent on both sides of the ball. She is the cousin of former Aggie centerfielder Kandis Jones. I look forward to having Asa in our program and watching her grow into the type of player we believe she is capable."

NM State softball comes into the 2019 season after being crowned the Western Athletic Conference regular-season champions for a fourth-straight year last season. The squad was tournament title holders for a second-straight season in 2018.
