LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's golf team made five additions to the 2019-20 squad on National Signing Day. The Aggies additions include three student-athletes from New Mexico, one from Texas and one from Nevada.
Following another successful signing day, head coach
Mike Dirks said, "I feel the five players we have signed all have the desire and work ethic to become the player that can win conference championships and help us reach the NCAA Championship."
Trey Diehl
Piedra Vista High School | Farmington, N.M.
Named a three-time all-state golfer at Piedra Vista HS… Helped lead the Panthers to winning the 2018 6A State Title… Won the North America Junior Amateur… Tied for second with brother, Tyler, at the 2017 state tournament as a junior… Placed second at 5-over, 149, individually at the 2016 5A State Championship.
"Trey will come in and compete for a spot right away. He brings the ability to score and post a low round every time he comes out," said coach Dirks.
Tyler Diehl
Piedra Vista High School | Farmington, N.M.
Named a four-time all-district and one-time all-state golfer while at Piedra Vista HS… Helped lead the Panthers to winning the 2018 6A State Championship… Finished in fourth at the 2018 Antigua National High School Invitational… Tied his brother, Trey, for second as a junior at the 2017 state championship.
Following the singing coach Dirks commented, "Tyler has the ability to shoot some low rounds, becoming a little more consistent is going to put him on our travel roster in the near future."
Cole Grossl
Keller High School | Keller, Texas
Was a four-year varsity golfer at Keller HS… Named District 3-6A Player of the Year two years in a row as a sophomore and junior… Led his team to back-to-back District 3-6A titles in 2016 and 2017…. Helped his team to a second-place finish in the District 3-6A tournament as a freshman.
"Cole is coming to us from a hot bed of junior golf, he has had a chance to compete against some very good players and had success against them. Continued hard work, will allow Cole to be a big contributor to our team next year," said head coach

Scott Rescigno
Galena High School | Reno, Nev.
Named to the all-state team three times while at Galena HS… Three-time all-region golfer with the Grizzlies… Had five Amateur Junior Golf Association top-10 finishes… Represented Nevada at the Boy's Junior America's Cup twice… Was named to the 2017 Transamerica Honor Roll Team.

Mike Dirks said, "Scott hits the ball a long way, if he can continue to work on controlling ball flight and putt the ball well, he will be able to garner a spot on the traveling team with us."
Aidan Thomas
St. Pius X High School | Albuquerque, N.M.
Played varsity golf at St. Pius X HS… Won the 2018 New Mexico Class 5A Individual State Championship… Took home first-place at the 2018 USGA 71
st Junior Amateur Qualifier… Selection for the 2017 Junior Americas Cup Team – Sun Country Section.
"Aidan has a lot of confidence and sees himself competing at the college level, his golf game has matured and you see it in his play. He will be right there in the mix for a spot when we begin next fall," said coach Dirks.
The New Mexico State men's golf team returns to the links to open the spring season at the Arizona Intercollegiate, Jan. 28-29, in Tucson, Ariz. on the Sewailo Golf Course.
