@NMStateSoftball Hosts New Mexico in Midweek Tilt

The Aggies look to add to their six-game winning streak as the team get set for a midweek clash with the Lobos at the NM State Softball Complex.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State softball team hosts Battle of I-25 foe New Mexico for a midweek contest on Tuesday, April 3. First pitch from the NM State Softball Complex is set for 5:30 p.m. MT.

WHERE TO WATCH
Fans that are unable to make it to Tuesday's contest can catch it on television with Adam Young on the call and Brian Cox serving as the analyst. The game can be seen on Comcast channel 77 in the state of New Mexico or streamed through ESPN3

POWER PLAY
NM State has four wins against Power-5 opponents this season. The team opened the season with a doubleheader victory against then-No. 17 Kentucky. The Aggies also defeated Big 12 opponent Texas Tech 3-1 in a midweek contest on the road. Minnesota was New Mexico State's latest victim when the team took down the Gophers 3-0 in the series opener on March 16.

TOP TIER
Rachel Rodriguez ranks in the NM State career record book top-five for hits (227), triples (11), stolen bases (81), and stolen base attempts (90). Kelsey Horton also joins the Aggie greats with 41 career home runs, and 331 total bases which ranks fifth all-time in both categories. She also posts eight sacrifice flies, which puts her in a tie for fourth place.

WEEKLY WARRIORS
New Mexico State softball swept the Western Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week honors as announced by the league on Monday. Nikki Butler took home the first Hitter of the Week honor of her sophomore campaign while Kayla Green earned her third Pitcher of the Week award this season. This is Butler's second weekly honor of her career and Green's sixth weekly award as an Aggie.

Butler hit .615 with five doubles, six runs scored and seven RBI over five games played last week. She posted a 1.000 slugging percentage and .611 on-base percentage. The sophomore started the week with pair of sacrifice flies and a double in first half of a doubleheader against UTEP which accounted for four RBI. She followed by going 7-for-10 to open WAC play at Kansas City, including four doubles against the Roos. In the finale, Butler went a stellar 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored.

Green went 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA over 19.0 innings pitched last week while holding opponents to a .130 batting average. The junior allowed just five unearned runs on nine hits while striking out 13 and walking six in three starts on the week. She opened the week by holding UTEP to just two hits over six innings in an 8-6 win over the Miners. Green then earned a combined shutout to open WAC play where she allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out a pair over six innings. In the series finale, Green tallied a new career-high seven strikeouts in the victory.

LAST TIME OUT
New Mexico State swept its first conference series when the team took down UMKC in Kansas City last weekend. The Aggies outscored the Roos 20-5 in the three-game series knocking off Kansas City, 6-0, 7-2 and 7-3. In the series finale, Analise De La Roca hit her first collegiate home run. The freshman had not recorded an at-bat prior to the series as she was mainly present in the circle.

KNOW YOUR FOE: NEW MEXICO
New Mexico enters the midweek tilt at 9-26 this season with a 3-6 record in Mountain West play. The Lobos are batting .242 as a team while the pitching staff posts an ERA of 7.48.

Jensen Main leads UNM in the circle with a 5.53 ERA and a 4-12 record this season. The sophomore has made 22 appearances that include 17 starts and four complete games. Offensively, Chelsea Johnson is hitting .327 in her 34 contests played. She leads the team with 33 hits and 25 RBI so far this season. Andrea Howard and Johnson each have a team-high five long balls for their 2018 campaign.

In the first meeting between the teams this season, New Mexico State came away with the 12-7 victory over the Battle of I-25 rival. Butler had a home run over the centerfield fence in the contest while Jeanelle Medina went 4-for-4 as she tallied two RBI. Samaria Diaz picked up the victory to improve to 2-6 during her sophomore campaign. She pitched 2.1 inning and allowed four runs on four hits while striking out five.

COMING UP: WAC IN ACTION
Following the series with the Lobos, NM State hosts its first conference contests this season with CSU Bakersfield coming to town for a three-game series. Friday's game is set for 6 p.m. MT while Saturday's doubleheader is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
