@NMStateSwimDive Opens Season With Conference Clash

WAC foe Northern Colorado visits the Mesilla Valley to start regular season.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State swimming and diving team welcomes Western Athletic Conference rival Northern Colorado to the Swimming and Diving Complex on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 11:30 a.m. (MT) to open its regular season. Admission for the event is free.

"UNC is a tough and well coached team," said head coach Rick Pratt. "They're much improved and have some keys swimmers which will give us a lot of challenges.  Their relays are strong as well and for us to be successful we're going to have to compete well and win those close finishes.  This is a great early meet for us and I'm excited to see how we do.  We've had a couple really great weeks of practices and getting to the point where we're maintaining some impactful work.  We're excited to compete."

The Aggies and Bears are set to compete in a traditional, 16 event, dual meet which includes 3m Dive, 200 Medley Relay, 1000 Free, 200 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 200 Fly, 50 Free, 1m Dive, 100 Free, 200 Back, 200 Breast, 500 Free, 100 Fly, 100 IM and 400 Free Relay.

Last season, NM State and Northern Colorado met for a dual meet in Greeley with the Bears winning the contest 187.5-112.5. However, the Aggies edged UNC for second place at WAC Championships with 582 points to 305.5 for UNC.

New Mexico State swimming and diving returns to the pool with another home meet against Wyoming on Saturday, Nov. 2, beginning at 11:30 a.m. (MT). As always, admission to this meet is free for all Aggie fans.
