Giving Tuesday | Hines Legacy Endowment Fund
LAS CRUCES, N.M. - NM State's fall day of giving, Giving Tuesday, is set to take place on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, and Aggie athletics is dedicating its resources on that day to promote the newly-established Hines Legacy Endowment Fund.
Created to honor the Walter Hines family legacy, which includes numerous graduated on NM State, decades of financial support as well as a former Director of Athletics and Head Coach in Jerry Hines, Hines Legacy Endowment Fund seeks to highlight a century-long relationship between the Hines family and NM State.
All donations collected for the Hines Legacy Endowment Fund will be utilized for recruitment of student-athletes to NM State as well as to meet critical needs for NM State athletics as identified by the current Director of Athletics on an ongoing and annual basis.
All funds raised up to $20,000 for the Hines Legacy Endowment Fund on Giving Tuesday will be matched by Walt and Bettie Hines. Walt's father, Jerry, is a former Aggie student-athlete, and was an All-Conference winner on the Aggies' football and basketball teams from 1922-26. Later, Jerry Hines went on to coach the Aggies' football and basketball squads and helped NM State capture three Border Conference titles on the hardwood from 1937-39 and another Border Conference crown on the gridiron in 1938.
Gifts made to the Fund are also tax deductible to the extent allowed. Upon donation, individuals will receive a gift receipt via email from the NMSU Foundation.
