LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Aggies football program returned to campus for voluntary workouts Monday morning.
Student-athletes, strength & conditioning coaches and sports medicine staff previously tested for COVID-19 made their way back to Aggie Memorial Stadium and the Coca-Cola Weight Training Center.
Strict and daily screening, including temperature checks and a CDC questionnaire, is required for entry to athletics facilities.Â
Monday was the first step in the NM State Athletics' plan to reopen the weight room and allow football student-athletes to begin working out. The plan, which has been developed with guidance provided by public health and government officials, includes a phased approach to reintegrating team members with one another.
Social distancing measures will be enforced and protective equipment, including face shields, face masks and gloves, will be used in all athletic facilities to minimize the risk and potential spread of the virus. Masks may not be required during workouts, but student-athletes are expected to maintain social distancing of at least six feet while in the facility.
In addition, all equipment will be cleaned and sanitized prior to and after each use by student-athletes.Â
