LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Quarterback
Jonah Johnson is earning high praise headed into his first season as an Aggie.
The Fresno City College product was included in Athlon Sports' list of the top-11 junior-college passers making the jump to the FBS level in 2020.
"Johnson - a native of California – arrives at New Mexico State after playing at Fresno City College for two years," Athlon Sports writes. "During his sophomore campaign, Johnson threw for 1,818 yards and 10 touchdowns and added 254 yards and six scores on the ground. Over 21 games at the JUCO level, Johnson accounted for 28 passing scores and completed 57.8 percent of his passes."
Following an offseason spent mostly in virtual meetings and small groups for workouts, Johnson and the New Mexico State football program returned to action on Friday, Aug. 7. The team opened its 2020 fall camp in helmets and shorts, spending more than two hours on the practice field.
