THE STARTING BLOCK
• Fresh off posting its first dual meet win over in-state rival New Mexico in a decade, the NM State women's swimming & diving team heads to the Lone Star State to try and string together consecutive dual meet wins for the first time this season.
• NM State's stint in Texas begins Friday at 4:00 p.m. MT with a showdown at rv SMU. The Aggies wrap up their stay in the Lone Star State with a dual meet at North Texas beginning at 11:00 a.m. MT.

LAST TIME OUT | NM State 197 at New Mexico 156
• A dominant final day in the lanes and on the three-meter diving platform allowed NM State to secure a lopsided 197-156 victory over New Mexico at the Armond H. Seidler Natatorium last Saturday.
• Lindsay Puhalski's strong performances in a number of events helped NM State win its first dual meet over New Mexico since 2011. Puhalski won the 400-yard IM (4:35.12) as well as the 200-yard IM (2:08.57) before claiming a runner-up finish in the 100-yard backstroke (59.08).
• Maude Boily-Dufour secured a trio of first-place finishes as well. Her top times in both the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.34) and in the 100-yard backstroke (58.35) came after she teamed with Neza Kocijan, Airam Oliva-Aun and Skylar Welle to win the 200-yard medley relay (1:46.23).
• Runner-up finishes were what junior Italia Aranzabal produced in the one-meter and three-meter diving events. Aranzabal's score in the one-meter (265.05) event represented a qualifying score for NCAA Diving Zones.
SCOUTING SMU | ROSTER | SCHEDULE
• Fired up after a big-time 177-123 dual meet win at Big 12 foe TCU on Friday, Oct. 29, SMU hosts its first home dual meet of the year when the Aggies come to down Friday afternoon.
• The Mustangs are coming off of a 2020-21 campaign which saw them claim a runner-up finish at the American Athletic Conference Championships.
• SMU is listed among the five teams receiving votes in the preseason College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of American NCAA Division I poll.
• In the Mustangs' dual meet win over the Horned Frogs last Friday, Gabriella Grobler won a pair of events (200-yard backstroke and 200-yard IM) as did Olivia Grossklaus (200-yard butterfly and 500-yard
freestyle).
• On the diving platforms, Nicole Stambo (271.20) secured the dual meet win in the one-meter dive while Johanna Holloway (300.97) won the three-meter dive in SMU's head-to-head battle with TCU.
• Both Holloway and Stambo took part in the NCAA Zone Diving Championships last season.
SCOUTING NORTH TEXAS | ROSTER | SCHEDULE
• Like SMU, North Texas took part in its first dual meet of the 2021-22 season last Friday and had little trouble with Incarnate Word in Denton, Texas. North Texas posted a lopsided 203.5-96.5 victory over UIW. North Texas won all but three events to run away with the victory.
• Leading the way for the Mean Green in that head-to-head matchup was freshman Laura Mazzotta who won four events - the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard IM and 400-yard freestyle relay.
• Saylor Hawkins secured victories on both the one-meter and three-meter diving boards.
• One season ago, North Texas posted a third-place team finish at the C-USA Swimming & Diving Championships in Atlanta.
COMING UP NEXT
• The Aggies' stretch of five consecutive events away from Las Cruces continue in mid-November when NM State travels to St. George, Utah, to take part in the Dixie State Trailblazer Invitational. The three-day event begins at 10:00 a.m. each day on Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 18-20 from the Dixie State HPU Pool.
