LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The long awaited season opener for the NM State cross country teams is here, as they head to Tucson, Ariz., for the Dave Murray Invitational at the Rolling Hills Golf Club for their only regular season meet of the year. The men will run the 8k race beginning at 9 a.m., with the women following in the 6k race at 9:45 a.m. The Aggies will be competing with four Pac-12 teams as Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA and California will join the Aggies in the meet. Results of the meet can be found immediately following the conclusion of the meet at www.finishedresults.com.Â
On the women's side, the Aggies will be led by senior Jessica Dominguez and junior
Richelle Sandin. Dominguez and Sandin were the top two Aggie finishers in the 2019 WAC Championships. Dominguez, a 2019 second-team All-WAC selection, would finish 11th (21:57.78) at the 2019 WAC Championships which would allow her to qualify for the NCAA Mountain Regional. Sandin would finish 17th at the 2019 WAC Championships with a time of 22:15.67. Senior
Anisa Burciaga and sophomore
Maggie Gibbs were also staples in the Aggies' lineup last season.
For the men, they will have to replace their top two runners from the 2019 season. The Aggies will look to junior
Anthony Molina and sophomore
Anekin Hetman to pick up the slack. Molina and Hetman finished 15th and 16th respectively at the 2019 WAC Championships. The Aggies will also look to senior James McClain to add some depth and experience. McClain finished 27th at the 2019 WAC Championships with a time of 26:13.24.
