BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The New Mexico State men's golf team got off to a hot start at the Western Athletic Conference Championship, firing a 15-under-par 273 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev., to lead after round one.

Individually,
Garrison Smith paces the Aggies after he carded an 8-under-par 64 to take the individual lead into clubhouse. Smith was on fire, recording seven birdies and an eagle on 16.

After winning the last WAC Golfer of the Week award,
Joseph Robson continued his strong run of play with a 4-under-par 68 to finish the first round in a fifth-place tie. Cole Grassl finished just outside the top-10, tied for 11
th, after he scored 2-under-par.

Aidan Thomas and
Alvaro Morales follow closely behind at 14
th after they both carded 1-under-par 71s.

NM State looks to extend its lead tomorrow, May 1, during the second round of the WAC Championship.
