LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State swimming and diving team has added
Marina Preiss as an assistant coach, head coach
Rick Pratt announced on Friday.

"We are very excited to have Coach Preiss join our staff," said Pratt. "She has great energy and passion for swimming and her experience at the club and college level will be a huge asset to our program. Furthermore, she has strong communication skills, is organized and has a great eye for technique. Overall, she is going to be a strong role model and team player who will help take our program to the next level."

Preiss joins the Aggies after spending two seasons as a volunteer assistant at SEC-program Auburn. During her tenure with the Tigers, she assisted with multiple training groups under head coach Gary Taylor and helped write and run dryland workouts along with other coaching and administrative duties. The Easthampton, N.Y., native was also a USA swimming club coach for Auburn Aquatics.

"I am extremely grateful to work alongside Coach Pratt and be a part of the Aggie family! My coaching career has allowed me to work with talented and driven athletes and I am honored to help take this team to the next level," Preiss said.

Prior to working at Auburn, Preiss coached in the Austin area with Waterloo Swimming as an age-group coach and with Southwestern University as a volunteer assistant working primarily with middle-distance groups.

The San Diego State alum swam four years for the Aztecs as a freestyler and was the squads captain her senior season. She enjoys photography, hiking and swimming.
