Day One Results
BRYAN, Texas - Garrison Smith and Scott Rescigno finished the day with identical 77's (+5) to lead the NM State men's golf team on day one of The Aggie Invitational at Traditions Golf Club.
As a team, NM State sits in 15th place out of 17 teams after shooting at 315 (+27). Fifth-ranked Texas (283, -5) sits atop the leaderboard with the nation's top team in Oklahoma tied for second with 12th-ranked Texas A&M. Both the Sooners and Aggies shot 290 (+2) on day one.
Smith carded three birdies on the day while Rescigno came up with one. Though he penciled in a team-high four birdies on his scorecard, freshman Aidan Thomas' quintuple bogey on hole three limited his movement up the leaderboard.
Steven Strasheim and Mauricio Figueroa shot identical 78's (+6), finishing day one in a tie for 62nd place.
Saturday morning, the Aggie will tee off on day two of Texas A&M's Aggie Invitational in hopes of moving up the leaderboard.
