Faapito and Butler Earn NFCA All-Region Honors

| By:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Matalasi Faapito and Nikki Butler earned NFCA All-Pacific Region honors Thursday afternoon. Faapito was named to the first team while Butler was named to the third team. This is the first time Faapito has been honored on a NFCA All-Region Team while Butler was named to the Pacific Region Third Team in 2019. Faapito is the seventh Aggie to make the all-region first team and is the first Aggie to do so since Kelsey Horton in 2018.

Faapito put together one of the more unique seasons in Aggie history. Faapito was a threat in the circle as well as in the batter's box. Faapito is the only player in the NCAA to have struck out 60 batters and hit 16 home runs. Shed ended the season with a .399 batting average with 16 home runs and 37 RBIs. Faapito led the WAC in home runs, hits, slugging percentage and total bases. Her 16 home runs puts her sixth on the single-season record list in Aggie history. Faapito also threw the program's first no-hitter since 2011 on Apr. 16. She was named the WAC Freshman of the Year as well as being named to the All-WAC First Team. Faapito is also a finalist for the NFCA/Schutt Sports Division I Freshman of the Year.

Butler ended her illustrious career on a high note as she was named the WAC Player of the Year for the second time in her career. Butler ended the season with a .355 batting average. Butler smacked 14 home runs and drove in a conference-leading 45 RBIs. Butler was terrific in WAC play as she posted a .456 batting average with 10 home runs and 28 RBIs. In the WAC Tournament alone, Butler hit three home runs in four games and drove in five runs. Butler was also named to the All-WAC First Team and the WAC All-Tournament Team.
