TEMPE, Ariz. - The tradition of excelling in the classroom continues for the NM State women's tennis team.
The Aggies were one of 210 NCAA Division I women's tennis teams from around the nation who were recognized as Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Teams. As a team, NM State generated a collective GPA of 3.77 during the 2020-21 academic year. That figure easily met the ITA's All-Academic Team requirement of a 3.2.
Individually, Harsha Challa, Chloe Gavino, Lucija Josipovic, Gavi Kalaga and Bella Nguyen were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2020-21 academic year. To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, individuals must have recorded a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the academic year. In all, 1,505 NCAA Division I women's tennis players from around the nation earned ITA Scholar-Athlete citations for the 2020-21 academic year.
On the court, the Aggies posted a 6-14 record through the 2021 campaign. That mark included a 4-2 showing in Western Athletic Conference matches as the squad advanced to the WAC Tournament title match as the second overall seed.
