Aggies' Cross Country Teams Head to Tuscon for Dave Murray Invitational

THE STARTING LINE
• Just shy of two weeks after taking part in its first home meet since 2017, the NM State men's and women's cross country teams will hit the trails once again as they head to Pac-12 country to take part in the 2021 Dave Murray Invitational.
• Hosted by Arizona, the meet is set to take place from the Rolling Hills Golf Club Friday morning. The women's race (a six-kilometer run) will begin the day at 7:00 a.m. while the men's race (an eight-kilometer run) is set to start at 7:45 a.m.

THE FIELD
• NM State will race along the course at the Rolling Hills Golf Club with four other institutions.
• The men's and women's cross country teams from Arizona, Arizona State, Grand Canyon and San Diego State will also be in attendance Friday morning.

LAST TIME OUT | Lori Fitzgerald Memorial Open | Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021
Anekin Hetman and Emily Stutesman both placed sixth in their respective races and the NM State men's and women's cross country teams began their 2021 seasons just under two weeks ago by hosting the Lori Fitzgerald Memorial Open at the NM State Golf Course.
• Hetman traversed the five-kilometer course in a time of 15:10 to earn a top-ten finish. Stutesman, meanwhile, was one of three Aggies who placed among the top eleven finishers on the women's side.
• Some of the Aggies' other top finishers in the women's race included Richelle Sandin (10th, 17:59.88) and Maggie Gibbs (11th, 18:03.38).
• NM State women's cross country team posted a runner-up finish at the six-team event while the Aggies' men's squad finished fourth out of the six teams in contention.

LAST TIME OUT AT THE DAVE MURRAY INVITATIONAL | Feb. 19, 2021
• Both the NM State men's and women's cross country teams finished fifth in the five-team field on each side at the Dave Murray Invitational hosted by Arizona on Feb. 19, 2021.
Anekin Hetman (25:44.2) was NM State's top finisher on the men's side, placing 15th along the eight-kilometer course.
• On the women's side, Emily Stutesman narrowly missed out a top-ten finish, placing 11th in a time of 22:19.2. Corinne Hanson shaved 10 seconds off of her previous six-kilometer personal best in order to come up with a fourth-place finish in the 37-woman field. Hanson was clocked in a time of 21:48.3. 
• In addition to NM State, Arizona, Arizona State, California and UCLA each send their cross country teams to Tucson to take part in the event.

COMING UP NEXT
• For their final meet of the regular season, NM State travels to Riverside, Calif., where it will compete at the Highlander Invitational hosted by UC Riverside. That meet is set to take place on Saturday, Oct. 16, and is in the same city where the WAC Championships will be held on the penultimate day of October.
