BEAUMONT, Texas - Halfway through its regular-season WAC schedule, NM State has done nothing but win.
Five of the six singles players who took the court for the NM State men's tennis team won their matches, helping the Aggies claim a dominant 6-1 WAC win over Chicago State Friday morning at the Thompson Family Tennis Center on the campus of Lamar University.
The victory pushed the team's record to 8-12 overall and 3-0 in league action, keeping the Aggies atop the WAC standings with three regular-season league matches to go.
DOUBLES
• The reigning WAC Doubles Team of the Week, Gijs Akkermans and Corey Clarke got things started for NM State with a 6-3 victory over Jesus Perez Plaza and Jakub Zamorski in flight two action.
• NM State sealed the doubles point on line three after Itay Feigin and Martin Simecek secured a 6-3 victory over the Cougars' duo of Max Sandoval and Jakov Suler.
• A clean sweep of doubles play was completed when Louis Menard and Jordy Visser locked up a 6-4 triumph over Pedro Alvarez and Javier Sanchez Pradillo in top-flight action.
• NM State has yet to lose a doubles tilt in WAC play. The Aggies are a perfect 8-0 in league doubles duels.
SINGLES
• Clarke's third singles win in a row was a near-perfect 6-2, 6-0 victory over Perez Plaza in flight three action. That win extended the Aggies' lead to 2-0.
• Visser also surrendered just two games to his counterpart on line six. NM State's competitor picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win over Zamorski, putting NM State at the brink of victory.
• Menard's top-flight win locked up his team's latest win. The Frenchman generated his sixth-straight singles win with a 6-4, 6-3 decision over Alvarez.
• Chicago State broke up the Aggies' shutout bid in second-flight play as Simecek dropped a narrow 6-4, 7-5 decision to Suler.
• Feigin returned to the win column in fourth-flight play, grabbing a 6-4, 7-6 victory over Sanchez Pradillo.
• Akkermans closed out the day with yet his third-consecutive singles win. After falling behind early on, NM State's fifth-line player came all the way back to win the match in his 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Hugo Hidalgo Vera.
• As a whole, NM State has gone 14-3 (.824) in WAC singles matches throughout the 2022 campaign.

• NM State closes out its weekend of competition in the Lone Star State Saturday morning when it takes on WAC foe Seattle U. The first serve between the Aggies and Redhawks is set for 8:00 a.m. MT at the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
