First Pitch
Following a weekend in Las Vegas at the Boyd Gaming Classic, the Aggies will make a quick turnaround for a mid-week doubleheader against UNM from the Lobo Softball Field in Albuquerque, N.M. This marks the first game between the two in-state rivals since March 11
th, 2020, a 4-3 NM State victory in Las Cruces. NM State has dominated the rivalry in recent years, compiling a 10-1 record against the Lobos since 2016.
Legend in the Dugout
Kathy Rodolph has had a remarkable career as the head coach of the Aggies. In her 19th year at the helm, Rodolph is the winningest coach in NM State with a 546-452 record. She's led the team to four WAC Tournament Championships and six WAC Regular Season Championships, including last season when the team went 14-4 in conference play. She is also a five-time WAC Coach of the Year. She has helped the Aggies capture the last eight WAC player of the year awards and back-to-back WAC Freshman of the year awards. Additionally, Rodolph has helped 17 players earn NFCA All-Regional Team honors.

A trio of Aggie bats showed out in Sin City as
Riley Carley,
Ramsay Lopez and
Maya Martinez combined for 13 hits, three doubles, six home runs and 16 RBI on the weekend.
In a pair of games against #5 Washington and UNLV on March 4, Lopez went 3-4 with a home run in each game and three RBI. Carley doubled her home run total on the year with a two home run, three RBI performance against UNLV on March 4. Martinez shined in a pair of games on March 5
th, going 3-7 with a double, two home runs and seven RBI on the day.
True freshman
Jordin King put together one of her best performances yet in an Aggie uniform, recording four strikeouts while allowing four runs in 4.0 innings of work on March 5
th against Houston.
Statistically Speaking
A pair of Aggie bats have been two of the hottest in the conference thus far as both
Ramsay Lopez and
Kayla Bowen rank inside the top-four in batting average this season. Lopez's clip of .444 ranks her second in the WAC and Bowen's average of .412 puts her at the number four spot among league hitters.
As you would expect, Lopez has been among the best at getting on base, leading the conference with an on-base percentage of .605 while
Yazzy Avila (.476) and
Kayla Bowen (.459) rank sixth and seventh among WAC players, respectively.
Along with being one of the league leaders in getting on base,
Ramsay Lopez has also been one of the top power hitters, collecting seven home runs on the season to rank second in the WAC. Lopez is also tops in slugging percentage as she is slugging 1.296 through twelve games.
Riley Carley (.926) and
Maya Martinez (.813) also rank highly in slugging percentage, claiming the second and sixth spots respectively.
As a team, the Aggies are slugging .525 which is good for best in the league, while also leading the WAC in on-base percentage (.412) and ranking second in batting average (.318).
