PROVO, Utah – After a day full of inclement weather and delays, play could not be completed at the 57th Cougar Classic, hosted by Brigham Young. When play was suspended due to a lack of daylight, the Aggies were in ninth place, shooting even par on the day.
Aidan Thomas posted the low score of the opening round for the Aggies, shooting two-under-par. Thomas caught fire towards the end of the opening round, birdieing four times between holes one and five.
Garrison Smith played an even round of golf in the opening round, sprinkling in four birdies.
When play resumes in the morning, the Aggies have 21 total holes to finish in the second round before beginning the final round. Thomas,
Alvaro Morales, and
Matthew Jackman are all shooting even par or better throughout the first segment of the second round.
Round One
- Aidan Thomas used four birdies in a five-hole span to lead the Aggies in the opening round. With sixteen holes at par or better, Thomas finished the first round shooting 70 (-2).
- Garrison Smith shot an even 72 over the first 18 holes. Looking to defend his title from the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, Smith birdied four times in the round. Between holes 13 and 2, Smith shot two-under-par.
- Alvaro Morales birdied on the first hole to finish with an even 36 on the front nine.
- Much like Morales' front nine, Joseph Robson finished the back nine with an even 36 after birdieing the thirteenth hole.
