LAREDO, Texas – Down in South Texas, NM State got off to a blistering start to the Border Olympics before cooling down slightly in the second round.
After eighteen holes,
Alexandre Bauduin was tied for the lead at the Border Olympics after shooting a 69 (-3) in the opening round. Shooting an even 72 in the opening round,
Aidan Thomas was also helping pace the Aggies.
Play was suspended on Monday night with play nearly complete in the second round. When play halted, NM State was in a tie for eighth place with Illinois State and Wright State. At the 2022 edition of the Border Olympics, the Aggies finished in a seventh place tie with Illinois State.
Bauduin was the lone Aggie to finish his second round, slipping into a tie for 69th place. Smith, Thomas,
Javier Delgadillo, and
Joseph Robson will each have two holes to play, beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday. Thomas has posted the best second round thus far, firing a 67 (+2).
Round One Notes
- Alexandre Bauduin was tied for the lead among all competitors after shooting a 69 (-3) in the opening round
- Bauduin, Garrison Smith, and Aidan Thomas each birdied four times in the first round.
- As a team, NM State posted a 290 over the first eighteen holes.
- Smith and Bauduin both posted a nine-hole score of two-under with Bauduin shooting a 34 on the front nine and Smith matching on the back nine.
Round Two Notes
- No. 30 Baylor leads all fields in the Border Olympic field, shooting a 563 (-13) over the first two rounds.
- NM State slipped three spots in the second round before play was suspended and will enter Tuesday in a tie for eighth place.
- Four Aggies will have to play two additional holes, beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT, due to a suspension in play on Monday.
- Aidan Thomas leads all Aggies in the second round, shooting a 67 (+2) through sixteen holes.
- Bauduin was the lone NM State player to finish the second round.
