Aidan Thomas Paces the Field, Aggies in Second Place on Day Two of Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate

Thomas shoots round two 71, freshman Javier Delgadillo hit team-best 69

HENDERSON, Nev. – Coming off Monday's hot start the NM State men's golf team kept that same intensity for day two of the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate, climbing to second place behind No. 42 Little Rock with a 290 (+2), tied for the best team finish among the field.

Aidan Thomas took control of the top spot on the individual leaderboard with a 71 (-1) from the second 18 holes, hitting four birdies on the day. Between holes six and thirteen, the Albuquerque native shot three under par, his best stretch of the day.

Freshman Javier Delgadillo jumped up eight spots on day two, tied for third place through two rounds after hitting a three-under 69. Delgadillo hit five birdies through the front nine, adding a sixth on hole 12. This ties for the best round of the El Paso natives' young collegiate career, previously hitting the score in round one of last year's Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate Championship.

Garrison Smith finished third on the day for NM State, hitting one-under-par through 12 holes but finishing with a 74 (+2). Smith had the biggest placement jump on the team, moving up 12 spots to end the day tied for 36th.

No. 42 Little Rock leads the field through the first 36 holes, hitting 571 (-5) as a team. The Aggies are one of three teams hitting under par for the tournament (Little Rock, Long Beach State).
