Aggies Battle Early But Fall At Home to UNM

Roko Stipetic and Corey Clarke earn first doubles win of the season as a team.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – After a tough week in Las Vegas last weekend, the Aggies (0-5) returned home on Saturday afternoon for a rivalry bout against in-state foe New Mexico (3-0). The Aggies were able to battle early, winning the doubles point. However, the Lobos ultimately outlasted the Aggies and would go on to win the match 6-1.

DOUBLES
  • In an emotional match on court number one, Roko Stipetic and Corey Clarke earned their first win as a duo this season as they defeated UNM's Alex Maggs and Jan Pucalka 6-3 to give the Aggies the doubles point.
  • Meanwhile, Yehor Opanasenko and Jordy Visser also fought their way to a 6-4 win over the talented UNM tandem of Arda Azkara and Georgia Samaha.
SINGLES
  • Roko Stipetic pushed the Lobos' Ryoma Matsushita to a tiebreaker in the second set of their match, however, that would be the closest the Aggies would get to earning a point in singles play.
