NM State Claims Second at Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate

Delgadillo finishes tied for third while Smith shoots a 65 on the final day.

HENDERSON, Nev. – The NM State men's golf team saved its best for last as they combined to shoot 10 under par on the final day at Reflection Bay Golf Club. The stellar close to the three-day event gave them an overall score of 851 (-13) to finish second at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate.

Freshman Javier Delgadillo turned in NM State's best three-round score as he posted a 207 (-9) to finish in a tie for third after turning in a 68 (-4) on Wednesday for his lowest score of the week. This also marked Delgadillo's first top-10 finish of his debut season with the Aggies.

Aidan Thomas' 208 (-8) marked the Aggies' second-best showing from an individual as the junior from Albuquerque, N.M., closed out the event in fifth place. On Wednesday, Thomas duplicated his 71 (-1) from Tuesday as he secured his third top-five finish of the season.

Garrison Smith also joined Delgadillo and Thomas in the top 10 as he posted a final round 65 (-7) to finish in a tie for ninth with an overall score of 213 (-3). The 65 also tied Smith with Long Beach State's Jack Cantlay for the lowest round among the 96 individuals at the intercollegiate.
