LAFAYETTE, La. – The spring season rolls on for NM State men's golf as the Louisiana Classic kicks off on Monday. The Oakbourne Country Club is described as a picturesque shot makers course" and will provide several challenges for the Aggies throughout the week.
On Monday, NM State will compete against Sam Houston and Illinois State in the opening two rounds.
Aidan Thomas and
Garrison Smith will once again tee off in the top two slots of the NM State lineup. Thomas and Smith will be joined by
Alvaro Morales,
Alexandre Bauduin, and
Javier Delgadillo in Louisiana.
For the first time in 2022-23, NM State fans can watch the men's golf team compete from the comfort of their couch. On Tuesday, the final round from Lafayette will air on ESPN+. On Tuesday, the top groups will tee off on the tenth hole, providing for a potential dramatic finish on the ninth hole, live on television.

The Field
The teams set to play in the 38
th rendition of this event is a mix of Top-25 programs and competitive mid-major schools. There will be 14 teams teeing it up this week which include Denver, Illinois State, Louisiana Tech, Little Rock, Louisiana, LSU, Michigan, New Orleans, Sam Houston, SMU, Texas A&M, Texas State and UTSA. NM State looks forward to testing its game against top-level programs like LSU & Texas A&M and continue to compete side by side with programs like Little Rock and Michigan.
Format
The tournament will take place over two days with both in Tucson and will consist of the standard 54 holes. On Monday, the Aggies will play two rounds of 18, totaling 36 holes for the opening day. To wrap up the tournament, the field will play a final round on Tuesday.
