NM State Finishes Fifth at Desert Mountain Collegiate

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – A tough final round of the Desert Mountain Collegiate will taint the final standings for NM State men's golf. Through two rounds, the Aggies sat at just three over par before shooting a 303 (+15) in the final round. When the dust settled, NM State finished in fifth place with an 882 (+18).
 
Aidan Thomas and Alexandre Bauduin both finished inside the top ten for NM State. Thomas fired a 214 (-2) throughout the tournament, which tied him for third place. At the end of the tournament, Thomas finished just six shots off of the lead and Ruan Pretorius of Mississippi State who took home the individual title.
 
Bauduin finished the Desert Mountain Collegiate in a five-way tie for seventh place. Over the weekend, Bauduin played extremely consistent golf with scores on 73, 72, and 73 for a grand total of 218 (+2).
 
Garrison Smith and Alvaro Morales finished tied for 32nd and 35th, respectively. Both Aggies birdied twice in the final round with Morales just edging out Smith, shooting a 76 (+4) on Sunday.

 
Final Day Notes
·      NM State finished the tournament shooting 4.13 on Par 4's – Just 0.01 behind Little Rock, who led the field.
·      The Aggies birdied 50 times in Scottsdale, finishing third in the Desert Mountain Collegiate behind Mississippi State (56) and Little Rock (52).
·      Aidan Thomas led all individual players with 18 birdies throughout the tournament.
·      Javier Delgadillo connected on 36 holes for par – Tied for the fourth most in the field.
