LIVE SCORING & RESULTS
BOULDER CITY, Nev. – With just 18 holes remaining at the 2023 WAC Men's Golf Championships, NM State and Grand Canyon are tied for first place. Both the Aggies and Lopes have shot a 553 (-23) and lead third place Sam Houston by six strokes. The Aggies, Lopes, and Bearkats will tee off at 10:00 a.m. PT on Sunday as a champion is decided.
Garrison Smith remains atop the leaderboard as an individual after two rounds. Following a 64 (-8) on Friday, Smith fired a 65 (-7) in the second round to hold a five-shot lead. Following a bogey on the second hole, Smith was clean for the remainder of the round, firing eight total birdies on Saturday. With an individual championship, Smith would claim an automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.
Javier Delgadillo remains red-hot in Boulder City as well. Through two rounds, Delgadillo remains tied for fourth place, shooting 138 on the tournament. For the second straight day, the freshman turned in a 69, improving his score to six-under on the tournament.
Joining Smith and Delgadillo inside the top 25 is Aidan Smith, who sits tied for 20th. Much like Delgadillo, Thomas matched his first round score, once again carding a 71 (-1). Between holes four and 17, Thomas birdied twice to sit at two-under before a bogey on 18.
With a tournament title, NM State would pick up the eighth WAC Tournament championship in school history. The title would also give NM State an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals and qualify the team for postseason play.
