ABILENE, Texas – NM State opened up its Texas road trip on Sunday at Abilene Christian. NM State secured the doubles point, however, were unable to hang on as ACU picked up a 4-3 win over the Aggies.
DOUBLES
- Anna Pinaieva and Lisa Zhu started the Aggies in the right direction as they secured a 6-2 win over Masha Vrsalovic and Olivia Sears at the No. 1 position.
- Shortly after, Valeriia Ivanovskaia and Dori Kurdi teamed up to take down the Wildcats' Andrea Guerrero and Eva Arranz by a score of 6-3 – securing the doubles point for the Crimson & White.
SINGLES
- ACU quickly evened the score with a win on the No. 5 line before Lisa Zhu picked up her third straight singles win as she knocked off Maryjoe Crisologo 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot.
- The back-and-forth trend continued as the Wildcats managed a victory at No. 3 just ahead of Anna Pinaieva claiming a 6-2, 6-7 (6-8), 6-0 victory over ACU's top singles player Masha Vrsalovic. Unfortunately, this would be the final match that the Aggies would find themselves on the winning side of as Abilene Christian closed out the match with wins at No. 6 and No. 4.
UP NEXT
NM State will now head 100 miles east to Stephenville, Texas, where they will meet up with Tarleton on Saturday. The Aggies will be seeking their first win over the Texans since 2018. Saturday's match is scheduled to get underway at Noon (MDT).
