Firing a 69 (-3), Aidan Thomas rose to 31st at the NCAA postseason event

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Aidan Thomas and Garrison Smith both continued play at the NCAA Las Vegas Regional on Tuesday. A nearly three-hour lightning delay hampered the pace of play during Tuesday's second round but Smith and Thomas prevailed. Both Aggies finished the day strong with Thomas remaining just one shot ahead of Smith entering the final round.

After entering Tuesday tied for 33rd, Thomas made a push to climb up the leaderboard. Even after the turn, Thomas began to heat up on the back nine holes. The Albuquerque native birdied holes 12, 14, and 17 to finish at three-under. With a 69 (-3) on his scorecard, Thomas turned in the best round for an Aggie in Las Vegas this week.

Much like Thomas, Smith got hot on the back nine, shooting two-under to turn in a 70 (-2) in Tuesday's second round. Despite three birdies before the turn, Smith remained even, shooting a 36. Quickly falling to one-over after bogeying 10, Smith finished the next eight holes three-under par to post his best score of the regional.

Thomas and Smith will enter the final round tied for 31st and 42nd, respectively. Smith will tee off first (9:42 a.m. PT / 10:42 a.m. MT) on Wednesday with Thomas going right behind him (9:53 a.m. PT / 10:53 a.m. MT).

Garrison Smith will tee off at 10:42 a.m. MT on Wednesday and will be paired with Joshuaa Robards (Kansas City, +4) and Aidan Oehrle (Lehigh, +6).

Thomas remains tied for fourth among the field on Par 5 holes, averaging 4.00 over the first two rounds of the regional.
Matthew Anderson (San Francisco) and Ethan Ng (Stanford) share the top spot of the leaderboard, posting matching 130s (-14) as the tournament goes to the final day.
