Bowen becomes the 20th Aggie in program history to earn all-region recognition

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After a remarkable 2023 season, Kayla Bowen continues to rake in the awards as it was announced Thursday afternoon that the graduate senior was selected to this years NFCA Pacific All-Region Third Team, becoming just the 20th Aggie in school history to earn a spot on the list.

Bowen wrapped up her season with a .387/.453/.817 slash line while tallying 55 hits, 37 RBIs, 15 home runs, 14 doubles, 14 walks and a 0.996 fielding percentage – leading the team in nearly every category – earning her a spot on the First Team All-WAC and WAC All-Defense lists.

Now, Bowen finds herself in elite company as she becomes the first player since Matalasi Faapito (2021, first team) and Nikki Butler (2021, third team) to earn a selection to an NFCA All-Regional Team. The first Aggies to make the list came in 1997 with Stephanie Bonillas (first team) and Danny Dunn (second team) becoming the first Aggie duo to see their name appear on the list.

Bowen finishes her career at NM State with 217 games played and 207 starts, ranking sixth in hits (205), second in doubles (45), fourth in home runs (44), sixth in RBIs (149) and fifth in total bases (388), going down as one of the best hitters in program history.
