LAS CRUCES, N.M. – In the return home, NM State unable to earn their second victory of the season as UT Arlington knocked off the Aggies 4-1 on Thursday morning at the NM State Tennis Center.
NM State's top doubles team consisting of
Anna Pinaieva and
Natsuki Nishimura started the day strong as they defeated their Maverick counterparts – winning 6-2 on court one. Elsewhere, the Aggies put forth a pair of new duos as
Whitney Moon teamed up with
Valeriia Ivanovskaia at No. 2 and
Lisa Zhu played alongside
Dora Kurdi at No. 3. Unfortunately, the new tandems were unable to find success as UTA earned the doubles point via wins at No. 2 and No. 3 to carry the advantage into singles action.
Anna Pinaieva carried her momentum from doubles into singles play as she defeated UT Arlington's Tara Gorinsek 6-3, 6-4 to move to 3-1 in singles this season. Despite the Aggies having a set in hand at the No. 4 spot, the Mavericks were able to wrap up wins at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 to clinch the match.

The Aggies will have the remainder of the weekend off as they get ready for a stretch of 21 days without a home match as they travel to Las Vegas where they will see UNLV and Kansas City before visiting San Marcos and San Antonio for matches against Texas State and Incarnate Word, respectively.
