NM State Falls at New Mexico in Penultimate Regular Season Match

Aggies travel to Tennessee Tech for CUSA Tournament tune-up next.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – NM State traveled north on Saturday evening as they visited rival New Mexico in one of the final regular season matches this season. The Aggies ultimately fell 4-0 to their in-state foe. With the loss, the Aggies now hold an overall record of 8-12 with one regular season match remaining before taking part in the Conference USA Tournament next weekend.

The Lobos quickly moved ahead on the scoreboard as wins in doubles action at No. 2 and No. 3 put the Aggies behind 1-0 entering singles play. In the third, unfinished match, the team of Gustavo Campos and Roko Stipetic were in a deadlock with the Lobos' No. 1 duo as they were tied 4-4 when the doubles point was clinched.

In singles action, UNM moved ahead 2-0 in the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3. Later, the home side picked up wins at No. 5 and No. 6 to secure the four points necessary to win the match.
