TEXARKANA, Ark. – NM State wrapped up the first 18 holes at the 2024 CUSA Championships on Monday afternoon at the Texarkana Country Club. The Aggies combined to shoot six over par and are in a tie for fifth place alongside Sam Houston. After one round of play, Louisiana Tech finds itself with a seven-stroke lead after posting a 280 (-8).
 
Individually, the Aggies were led by sophomore Anthony Lara who is coming off one of his best performances of the year. On Monday, Lara posted a 72 (E) to sit in a tie for eighth while serving as one of only 12 players in the field to shoot par or better. The top spot on the individual leaderboard is currently being split between Western Kentucky's Luke Fuller and LA Tech's Lake Juban with both shooting 68 (-4) to begin their tournament.
 
Alexandre Bauduin also had a strong opening round as he posted a 73 (+1) to end the day in a tie for 13^th place on the individual leaderboard. Meanwhile, Javier Delgadillo submitted a 74 (+2) and is tied for 23^rd, Alvaro Morales carded a 75 (+3) and is tied for 28^th and River Smalley finished the day with a 78 (+6) to sit in 38^th place.
 
NM State will continue play on Tuesday as the five Aggies are slated to be paired with players from Sam Houston. Smalley will go off first at 8:30 a.m. MT and will be followed by Morales (9:39 a.m.), Delgadillo (9:48 a.m.), Bauduin (9:57 a.m.) and finally Lara (9:06 a.m.).
 
Additionally, NM State will begin Tuesday's round just three strokes back of the top four teams and where they will need to be after 54 holes in order to qualify for match play on Thursday.
